Quote I’m pondering“It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” – Harry S. Truman

Music for focus – I’m still trying out various music to work to and have used up 3 of my 5 free sessions at Brain FM. It’s so good I’m signing up for a year ($47) after my trial. Try it for yourself, they have focus & productivity, relaxing and sleep modes, it’s fantastic!

Favourite new app – 1.1.1.1 is a free privacy app for your iPhone or Android. It replaces the connection between your phone and the Internet, ensuring your connection is private. Basically like a VPN, though with speed on your side.

Does the truth matter anymore? – A recent post of a photograph showing wolves trekking through the snow, described as demonstrating excellent leadership led me to an insightful article about how our news media are no longer trusted to filter the real facts from the fake facts.

It’s a terrific read and gives many real-life examples around Facebook, newspapers and digital journalism.

Best LinkedIn articles ever! – Shameless plug, I’ve been writing about living and working in Denmark. It’s a humorous look at being an expat in the land of happy. Check it out and see what you think.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend doing the things you enjoy with the people you love.

Quote I’ve been pondering “To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” – Henri Bergson

Books in 8 minutes – I’ve been reminding myself of classic books and learning about new ones using these 8 minute videos. The author has a great style and flow, they really are good. He also shares the tools he uses in case you’re interested in producing vids yourself.

Staying with learning – HBR has a great read here, inspiring me to practice metacognition, that is stopping myself and asking if I really get something, which I realised I’ve not been doing. Learning is a learned behaviour and we can all get better at it.

I’m getting more productive & inspired – I’ve returned to ‘Epic music’ on YouTube and Apple Music for the last week. I’m finding that when practicing metacognition, as well as producing content for work or my blog, epic music is a fantastic driver for results. I recommend trying it yourself to see if you notice a difference too? YouTube has some cracking tunes here: YouTube 2 hours of Epic Music

Want to improve your life? Just learn to say no – I’m constantly trying to improve my ability to say no to the non essential. It’s not easy, especially at work. The Guardian published a terrific piece with insights and advice, ending with the great Warren Buffet quote “Successful people say no to almost everything”
